More than a month after their launch, the Google Link Spam Update and Helpful Content Update (HCU) ended yesterday. With big news for the Abondance site on its strategic demands…
That’s all ! It took a long time, but the two Google algorithm updates launched in December 2022 concluded yesterday:
- Helpful content update (launched Dec. 5), which combats automated content designed only for search engines. Its great news was that it considered the whole world, including France. It took 38 days to distribute.
- December 2022 Link Spam Update (launched December 14), which fights low quality links: ” not only can it directly detect spam, but also sites that buy links and those used to redirect links to other pages “. It took 29 days to distribute.
All date indications are provided on the official page listing the recent algorithm updates (remember to consult the English version, which is much better updated).
This type of update typically takes 2 weeks to deploy and that was the deadline announced at launch. The fact that this delay was much longer isn’t necessarily a sign that the updates were stronger or more complex to set up and follow up with, because it could also mean that, over the holiday year, the engineering teams that manage this type of launch in Google have certainly been less personal… 😉
At Abondance, however, we would like to have updates like these every month, as the site is in the “Top 10” for all of its big strategic keywords (the last position came in last night with a progression of +14 positions) : “SEO news”, “SEO training” and “SEO audit”, both in the singular and in the plural:

For example, we can achieve great results by being 100% white hat and not buying the slightest backlink (could we have managed to crack the google algorithm at over 92%? Who knows 🙂 🙂) 🙂
