Google has released an update for two of its most used apps – both have over 2,000 million downloads

With over 1,000 million downloads each, Google’s Clock and Calculator apps are two of the most downloaded apps in the entire portfolio of apps that the search engine company offers Android users. They are present in billions of devices worldwide and, although they receive few updates, Google surprised today with a new version of each of the two applications, available from today via the Play Store.

The update brings versions 8.4 and 7.4 of the Calculator and Clock apps respectively, and all Android users who have either of the two apps installed on their devices should be able to download them via the App Store.

Neither app introduces too many new features at first glance. In fact, at first sight we will hardly find any changes as soon as we install the new versions. One difference that can be noticed is the inclusion of a new section in the options menu, which leads to the privacy policy of both apps.

However, recently both applications have received some interesting news, available to all users, regardless of the installed version. In the case of the clock application, we are talking about the possibility of recording sounds to use as an alarm clock or alarm ringtone.

For its part, the Google Calculator application now includes a double-column layout available on tablets and other large format devices**, such as foldable smartphones.
