In terms of SEO, we use a variety of means and methods to optimize text, and using tags to make text bold is one of them. However, for the uninitiated, there are 2 tags that lead to the same visual result of its text in bold :
- The label Bold which translates to html like this: And
- The label loud which translates to html like this: And
Visually, the results remain strictly the same depending on whether you use a bold or strong tag. So why 2 tags for the same result of its bold text? and which one it should be used for improve your SEO ?
You should know that the bold we use in optimizing an SEO text, is the last of the elements that matters, if we consider beforehand Hn beacons from H1 to H6
Bold and strong tags in SEO – make text bold
Let’s not hang around for too long! The bold tags and strong tags they have equal value in the eyes of Google bots (yes, bots have eyes) and have been for many years. Clear, Google will not favor strong over boldwhich has long been broadcast.
Yet the matter was already clarified by Matt Cutts almost 10 years ago, but could it have evolved?
The distinction between the 2 beacons is undoubtedly what led to the conclusion that strong label had more weight in SEO. When in doubt, we’ve continued to favor the loud label for hers natural reference more than the bold tag.
However, if the 2 beacons exist, there must be a reason! but it is not necessarily what we think about or would like to think about.
The role of the bold tag
The original bold, so to speak, belongs to the bold tag, which is translated as a reminder from in the html code. If you put a word or phrase in bold, this is how it will look in html language:
- use of bold
The goal is to highlight a text to draw attention to one side and generally signify that it is important. It therefore has a utility rather oriented towards ease of reading; allow a diagonal reading by displaying, for example, the key elements of a text.
As with everything else, it shouldn’t be overused, as Google will still analyze bold text to understand its importance in the overall context of the article.
the role of the strong label
The strong label it is identical in terms of its visual result but its meaning differs in that it characterizes a strong or important element of the text, hence the term strong. There is therefore a fine line between highlighting text to emphasize it and saying it is strong, even important in some way.
- use of strong
LOUD
Do you understand and place the value of bold text in SEO?
From an SEO point of view, the main points and referents linked to the text within an article are generally Hn beacons. Overall, we place an SEO order of weight and value on text elements and tags. It is therefore necessary to distinguish the weight and importance, in the SEO, of the elements that highlight the text in view of a more fluid reading.
However everything is important, because the content is made up of a set of inseparable elements, but each of them has a weight. We can then consider the order of weight in SEO for text only:
- Beacons from H1 to H6,
- bold text
- The text of the content itself (the plain text).
We therefore cannot say that the H1 tag is more important than the raw text of an article. Both are essential and important in any case, but the H1 headlight it just carries more weight in SEO because it directs the content.
1. The H1 tag
The H1 headlight it is mostly attributed to an article title by default. Putting different H1s inside articles instead of H2s is of no interest, even though technically it can be done. You can enter several H1s, but it is better to prioritize content for the sake of SEO logic on the one hand, but also to facilitate reading and acquire the right reflexes. It’s a bit like a book where you have a title, paragraphs, subheadings and of course the content.
If nothing distinguished all these elements, one would have an undrinkable reading resulting in a succession of words from beginning to end. One might even think that multiple H1s within an article would result in the same value being assigned between a headline and its paragraphs. Outside it is important to have a common thread, be it a book or SEO content. It’s just a photo!
2. Signals H2 to H6
The H2 headlight it is therefore generally used as the first heading element within an article. Underline the different paragraphs, while from H3 to H6 mark the sub-headings, sub-parts or even subheads, regardless of the names.
That said, we mostly stop at H3, unless the texts are very long and require an appropriate structure and hierarchy, in order to make reading easier for the internet user.
3. Bold text
Underline or highlight important points in bold, will allow the reader to read more diagonally and allow Google to make the connection with the placement of the subject. Stop looking between the bold and the strong, it’s the same thing. Do you doubt? hold on in this case!
5. Plain text
This is all the information explained within the article, the editorial as a whole, which will define and translate the elements of headlines, subheadings etc. So if the text comes last, there’s absolutely no way it’s not as important as the rest. It simply expresses the performance of the title and therefore of the main keyword.
The same way we insert keywords inside Hn tags, we also put it in the content itself. It is not about optimizing excessively, but about mixing the lexical field of your keywords so that the content is clear in view of the topic and so that Google positions it on the right lexical field.
Ultimately, this is how Google interprets the content well in order to better reference it.
