The Fed Group just released its report on the state of hiring. The communication and marketing sectors are rather “in good shape” and the trend should be confirmed in 2023.

Recruit in marketing and com! With the year 2022 just giving way to 2023, it’s time to take stock, particularly in the hiring sector. “The communication and marketing sectors are totally affected by the state of the global recruitment market: IFrance has never had so many vacancies to win, at the end of 2022.This was explained by Victor Gacon, a recruitment consultant at Fed Business, who published his report on the progress of hiring on January 10th. Except during the interlude of health crisis, the labor market in these two fields is constantly growing these last few years.

Digital drives growth

The rise of digital is one reason for the good health of these sectors. According to the consultant’s observations, these are also digital marketing professions attracting more and more candidates. Another reason for the growth: the central place acquired by marketing in organizations, and strengthened by the health crisis, to work on their “branding” and eventually attract consumers. “Through marketing, companies have realized that they can improve their brand image, their ability to successfully generate traffic and content… So they have recruited a lot and this should continue until at least the first half of the year. 2023”provides the recruitment consultant.

To justify this optimism, the expert mentions, for example, the large number of major Tech companies which, despite their poor economic health, still invite people into marketing, in order to increase sales. However, if the general state of the hiring market were to deteriorate, so would the communications sector particularly impressedwarns Victor Gacon: “Communication professionals are often the first to be thanked when things go wrong”. In full development, the marketing sector would also be affected by a general deterioration in the labor market, but not as much as that of communication.

A more comfortable situation for candidates… than for companies

However, some setbacks for companies are identified by the consultant: strong competition, difficulty in finding the best talents or professionals with specific skills (especially in the field of digital and affiliation), supply higher than demand… The question of the cost of labour weighs on them too. According to Victor Gacon, “candidates in these sectors are more demanding than before and find it easier to negotiate salary. Companies therefore have some difficulty in adapting to this cost, which is higher than expected”. In fact, the remuneration of a communication/marketing officer at the end of the studies (Bac + 5) is positioned in a range between 3,200 and 3,700 euros per month. A few years ago, it was around 3,000-3,500 euros. Be that as it may, the year 2023 should confirm the good health of these recruitment markets.
