3 tips to earn more with Google AdSense

The first step is essential: it is to examine seasonality and data from previous years to better prepare for the holidays and know which actions to prioritize.

  • Start by reviewing your AdSense account data by going to the Reports section :

  • -> Identify the best performing ad formats. To do this, go to the “Ad formats” report.
  • Know the behavior of your audience with Google Analytics (or any other GA alternative) and get insights into your site traffic during the previous holiday season :
  • -> Landing Pages: This Google Analytics report shows you which part of your site gets the most traffic and which users interact the most for the longest time (Google Analytics Path: Reports/Behavior/Site Content/Landing Pages) .
  • -> Geographic Data: This report shows traffic from all geographic areas where users show interest in your site (Google Analytics path: Reports/Audience/Geo/Geo).
  • – >Search Terms: This report shows some of the user queries, along with the number of unique searches for each query (however, it is better to use Search Console data for much more accurate and detailed data on this point).

Step 2: Prepare your advertising inventory

Maximize advertiser demand by making sure you use all relevant ad formats and deliver all viewable ad placements.

  • Add more ad units. Be sure to add more ad units to allow more advertisers to compete for ad placements on your site this holiday season. As always, be sure to follow the AdSense rules.
  • Enable Auto ads to test new formats and earn more. When seasonal demand peaks, make sure all ad formats and placements are available. Enable all Auto ad formats, especially AdSense’s best performing ad format, thumbnails.
  • Also make sure you’ve turned on the “Widescreen” option in your Auto ads settings for anchor ads and display ads.
  • Automate the optimization of your ad format settings by turning on automatic optimization. Let Google run optimization tests for you with automatic optimization. This feature allows you to test different combinations of ad settings and automatically apply improvements aimed at increasing your revenue.   • Try the experimental features. Experimental AdSense features are not yet ready to roll out to all publishers. You can turn them on or off whenever you want.   • Unlock all categories. Go to the Ad Review Center to review your ads and blocking settings.
  • Enable all possible ad sizes. Try out responsive ad units and let Google automatically optimize the size of your ad units on mobile devices with the ad size optimization setting.

Of course, these few tips are not exhaustive, you also need to make sure that:

  • The dwell time on your articles is as long as possible;
  • That your load time is as fast as possible to maximize the time your ads are viewed;
  • That your visitors visit as many pages on your site as possible to maximize the number of page views per visitor and thus increase your advertising revenue;
